Welcome back my dear readers, for the one last time!
Here I am ending this journey of Chocolate with some of my favourite recipes for all the chocolate lovers out there.
Recipe 1: Homemade Nutella
Nutella is something
that is found in every household, and here I bring you a recipe of how to make
this at home.
- 8 ounces hazelnuts
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/3-1/2 cup
powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 tablespoon oil
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 350ΒΊF.
- Place the hazelnuts on a baking tray and spread them out into a single layer. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until they brown lightly. Remove the tray after 5 minutes and give the nuts a toss for even browning and then further bake. Let the nuts cool for 10 minutes before proceeding.
- Place the hazelnuts on a kitchen or tea towel and rub vigorously with hands or on a smooth surface to help loosen the skin. If some of the skin does not come off, that is okay. Melt the chocolate in the microwave in 20 second increments, stopping the microwave and stirring in between until the chocolate melts, it will take about 40 seconds.
- Add the hazelnuts to a food processor and let the processor run for 2-3 minutes or until a smooth, glossy paste forms. Add the vanilla, salt, cocoa powder, melted chocolate, and ⅓ cup powdered sugar for less sweet Nutella at ½ cup for sweeter Nutella. Let the food processor run for 1 ½ - 2 minutes while you slowly drizzle in the oil through the food processor opening. Keep in mind the Nutella will be runny when you stop the machine but will thicken as it cools.
- Place Nutella in a mason jar or any resealable container and keep at room temperature for up to 1 month.
Recipe 2: Homemade Chocolate Bar
Chocolate bars that we get in
the market are full of preservatives and additives, so why not try to make a
healthy version by making it at home yourself.
- 1/4th cup Cocoa Beans (you can buy them from Amazon)
- 3 tbsp non-flavoured oil
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar (or you can
use maple syrup, honey, or agave)
Method:
- Add the cocoa beans in a grinder and grind till fine powder
- Gently warm oil if not melted.
- Combine the oil, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar in a bowl, stir until it gets thick.
- Pour the mixture into any flat container or candy moulds and chill until solid.
Recipe 3:
Chocolate Bread
Everyone has eaten bread, what if I tell you there is a chocolate variant and that you can make it at home with simple ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 1
and 1/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2
cup sifted cocoa powder
- 1
teaspoon baking soda
- 1 ½ teaspoons
baking powder
- 1/4
teaspoon salt
- 1/2
cup brown sugar
- 1/4
cup caster sugar
- 1/2
cup unsalted butter
- 1
teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large
eggs
- 3/4
cup full fat buttermilk
- 3/4
cup chocolate chips
Method:
- Grease and line your loaf pan with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 180 C.
- In a large mixing bowl, add flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add sugars and gently stir.
- In the microwave, heat the butter in a large heatproof bowl until just melted. Add your vanilla and eggs to your butter and whisk gently until combined.
- Make a well in the middle of your dry ingredients, add wet ingredients along with buttermilk. Very gently fold the mixture using a spatula until the mixture is just combined, be careful not to over mix.
- Add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips to the batter. Pour mixture into prepared pan and sprinkle extra 35 grams 1/4 cup of chocolate chips on top.
- Bake cake for approximately 45 minutes or until a knife inserted into the middle comes out clean. Leave to cool completely on a wire rack.
